Multi-platinum producer DAME GREASE preps May 27th release of "GOON
MUSIK" via a joint effort between Babygrande Records and Vacant Lot
Dame Grease, the renowned producer behind hits from the likes of
Jay-Z, T.I., The Lox, The Diplomats & many more, has channeled his
gritty and aggressive stylings into the long awaited inaugural
release, "Goon Musik."
A hard-hitting collection of street-ready anthems, "Goon Musik" both
pays tribute to the early nineties New York street-inflected hip-hop
that spawned illustrious careers from the likes of Mobb Deep, The
Wu-Tang Clan and many more, and puts New York back on the map as a
hotbed of flourishing hardcore street talent.
A truly novel concept album (and first of a budding franchise), "Goon
Musik" not only features Grease on the boards for all thirteen tracks,
but also introduces him as a veritable force on the mic, alongside
"The Goon Squad" (a pairing between Meeno, Tanya "T6" and NY's
renowned "Lenox Ave Boyz"), Max B. and more.
Dame Grease's "Goon Musik" hits stores May 27th, 2008!

BROWN BETTIES

I consider myself a sultry, seductive sexy woman! so when I was contacted by Ms. Peppur Chambers herself, and was put on to BROWN BETTIES... I couldn't help but share them with you guys.... although Im selfish, but this seductive chiq needs to let ya know it's all about the BROWN BETTIES! (" A HARLEM'S NIGHT CABARET")
Brown Betties are the four Sultry, Sassy, Sophisticated women that drive the 1940s bedtime story of a woman looking for love in all the wrong places in the production, "Harlem's Night: A Cabaret Story". The story is about Harlem and her bad love choice, Joe. The Brown Betties play the alter-egos of Harlem...or rather, all the emotions or cycles you go through when you are obsessed with someone. Christy Gamble plays "Love"; Keena Ferguson plays "Hate"; Danielle Lewis is "Want"; I play Harlem and "Need" ....and we are the lovely Brown Betties.
I wrote this show (from experience!) in 2005 and we are still going strong in 2008!

Personally I have not seen the Production, (but definitely will) but just by the name itself sounds so sultry and seductive. Tell us about Harlem's Night Cabaret?
What makes your production so sophisticated and sultry?
Plus, we are telling a tale that is universal against a backdrop of classic 1940s jazz and original songs I wrote played by our Brown Sugar Band. The women identify with the story b/c they've loved, hated, wanted and needed a Joe at some point in their life...some women are going through it and you hear them yell out, "Go on, girl!" during the show. The men identify b/c every has been or wants to be the debonair, handsome, sophisticated yet lonely Joe. This story hits home and it's one that often comes down to sex and its repercussions. We aren't afraid to talk about this...softly.
People want to feel good when they watch live entertainment, too! We have a cast of eight directed by Tanya Alexander: Brown Betties, Joe (Ricco Ross), Ms. Bettie the club manager (Deonna Raheem), an eager tap dancer who's dream is to be on stage (Jacob Nixon), and a Cigar/Cigarettes girl who does everything but sell cigars (Kalia Silva)! Harlem's Night takes place in The Club and Harlem's Boudoir, basically and the audience is a voyeur...they are a part of the story too!
Is Harlem's Night Cabaret any means of letting a man know the seductive threat a woman has?
Even moreso, Harlem's Night Cabaret is about letting a woman know she needs to find love within herself and be able to be strong alone...because there's nothin' wrong with a little loneliness! I s'pose this still translates to "seductive threat"! :)
Peppur your song Hey Joe is it the signature song to Harlem's Night Cabaret? and if so why?

Aside from your Production, You have a Calendar, Is it as Sensual as the Production?
When and where is the calendar available?
Any thoughts on moving the Production to Broadway?
What's next for Peppur?
Ultimately, I'm out here doing my best to be the best black woman I can be and I'm bringing my sisters with me!
Thanks Peppur.....

SISTAH FOR SALE
Saturday, March 25, 2000
SP Hi Sista Girl, This is definitely not our first time touching bases with you. So as you can see I'm a vivid fan, not much into reading books but somehow your books are intriguing and addictive! So tell me your secret ingredient to some preeminent literature?
M Well first thanks for continuing to support me and my books. I think what makes my books addictive as you say is the fact that I introduce and expose complex, controversial, and universal subjects that most readers don't find in urban fiction. Another thing that seems to be key is the fact that I write in a way that grabs people, touches them and makes them feel my characters.
SP Miasha if 'm not mistaken Sistah for Sale is your 4th book, and please correct me If I'm wrong. I had the pleasure of reading Mommys Angel, Diary of A Mistress and Secret Society and now Sistah For Sale,. Where does all the inspiration come from?
M Yes Sistah for Sale is my 4th novel. I get inspired by many things. My own personal experiences, other people's experiences, music, movies, and sometimes I get inspired while I'm asleep. Ideas will come to me and I'll jump out of bed and write them down.
SP As I was reading Sistah For Sale, there were some parts that applied to my everyday hustle in this raw hardcore industry called hip hop (music industry). Are you aware the impact you have on the readers? Have you ever applied your own experiences as part of a chapter in one of your books? Was Sistah for Sale based on some one's reality? Not to give away too much of what the book is about but the trade is no joke!
M I'm definitely aware of the impact I have on readers and I believe that is why I put so much into my books. I don't just come up with a great plot and write it based on my imagination. I do a lot of research to make sure the book is as authentic as possible. I want my books to be relatable and realistic. That's what makes for a good read if you ask me. And like I mentioned, I do use my own personal experiences sometimes. The truth of the matter is, people tend to write about what they know and in each of my books thus far there has been a part of me and what I've been through throughout them whether that be on a physical, mental, or spiritual level--something that I've went through shows up in all of my books at least once. Sistah for Sale is strictly fiction, however, in doing my research I found that it's a tale based on somebody's reality in the world. Even as far as the Spitzer scandal, there are lost of similarities between Sienna (the main character in Sistah for Sale) and Ashley (the prostitute that was involved with New York's Governor).
SP At the beginning was it difficult for you to have someone take notice of your talent? Did your resources come from West Philadelphia?
M Fortunately, my talent was noticed very early on. I didn't have to self-publish or receive a lot of rejection letters. Teri Woods expressed interest in my first novel Secret Society right away and things just took off from there. My resources came from all over--books, the internet, and most notably another Philadelphia Author, Karen E. Quinones Miller.
SP For our young and new writers what would be one of your key points in succeeding in the publishing game?
M Besides putting out good and well-written stories, knowing your market and appealing to them. Marketing and Promoting is everything in this business. So in addition to having the responsibility of being creative, learn the business and make it your responsibility to be as savvy in that area as you are in the writing area.
SP Is there a backdoor? please do tell...
M I don't believe there is. I mean, in publishing agents and publishers are looking for books that sell and make them money. So even if you know someone, if you're book isn't what they are looking for, it simply doesn't matter.
SP When is the next sizzling, seductive, scandalous novel?
M In just a few months. My fifth novel, Never Enough, which is the sequel to Secret Society, will be out in July. And as an introduction to it, I'm producing Secret Society the Stage Play opening in Philadelphia at the end of July. So please look out for both.
I know I'm ready for the next chapter of seduction! Please keep bringing the raw material. Miasha make sure you bless my soul seductions blogspot with your touch.

Will do. Thanks!

LIQUID OCTAGON
The Candy Store Marketing Group
Ralph Productions
Liquid Octagon Experience @ NYBS
Jacob Javits Convention Center
June 22 – 23, 2008
The Candy Store pours on some Sweet Flavor with an innovative industry convention merging alcohol and beverage industries with the urban community.
New York, NY - March 18, 2008 - The Liquid Octagon Experience will be the first convention of its kind to marry the alcohol and beverage industry with the urban community.
The Liquid Octagon Experience's goal is to aid the liquor and spirits' industry in finding new ways to conduct business with the urban market. Established and Up and coming liquid brands recognize the buying power of the urban market. As a result, those brands are constantly searching for the next successful venture for the urban community.
LOe is set to take both the urban and alcohol/beverage markets by storm by linking two multi-million dollar industries and providing them with an exclusive arena to conduct business. LOe strives to craft a lifestyle-influenced environment to bridge the gap between each partnership.
The concept of hosting a party in an arena where people of urban descent, bar managers as well as restaurateurs, could mingle, discover and indulge in different brands, as well as purchase wholesale for their perspective businesses, was a fresh and exciting idea that was concocted with the notion to bring success in two separate industries.
The convention, the first of its kind, is set to be a profitable, exciting and sexy event. Hosted at the Jacob Javits Center on the 22nd and 23rd of June, LOe will hold upwards of 20,000 people comfortably, in an event that will be sure to spark an industry buzz. The marriage of the alcohol & beverage industry with the urban community, will give the Liquid Octagon Experience a ground breaking role in the merger of two industries.
