MANNIE FRESH SISTER SHOT AND KILLED

Mannie Fresh's sister, Angela Bryant, was shot and killed Wednesday night in her New Orleans home, according to local TV affiliate WWLTV. Police reportedly said the 42-year-old mother's two young children were present but not physically harmed. Authorities said Bryant, whose body was discovered early Thursday morning, was murdered between 10 p.m. and midnight, according to WWLTV. Her black 1998 Lexus LS 400 reportedly went missing after the murder.
Bryant's husband, who had been out of town when his wife was killed, arrived at the house before noon and was distraught, according to the WWLTV report. The couple got married last month, and Bryant celebrated her birthday with family on Wednesday night, WWLTV said. Police reportedly did not elaborate on the conditions of the children, ages 2 and 7, but said they were safe and healthy.

There's a new clothing line I was plugged into last night. I mean its been around quite some time, But I happened to finally check my emails and I got a newsletter from one of my closest Industry mentors Ms. Jackie Rowe. Personally Im a fashionista, I love clothes, love to be the street trendsetter and love it when I see fashionable gear in the mean streets of the ghetto. So when Jackie was telling me about the gear, she was explaining to me the definition behind it and the representation; and it definitely has a core audience, especially if your into boxing and sports, I mean sheesh I would rock the baby tee's, especially when I feel like knocking out my Baby Daddy.. lol or some Industry wanna be thug.. But all in all it definitely represents strength, development and growth!. PUGILIST® is not in the Boxing sports gear and clothing business for a quick hit, PUGILIST® is in it to Knock em' out!
Sunday is definitely my rest day, but God works in mysterious ways and we all know that If we believe in the almighty man above. Ms. Jackie Rowe, who is Vice President of PUGILIST ® is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of Operations. So when we spoke last night about the Industry she definetely plugged in all her happenings and Pugilist was one of them. Something she said caught my attention, and that was the representation of each glove made by Pugilist. The Purple Glove represents DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN WOMAN.

With the release of the blockbuster film, "American Gangster," Johnson's voice takes on new meaning. Her husband, Bumpy Johnson was an intrical character in the movie. Frank Lucas, the dope-dealer portrayed by Denzel Washington, state that he wassays Bumpy Johnson was his mentor, teaching him everything he knew. He goes on to Bumpy's second-in-command, and that Bumpy died in his arms in 1968. Johnson hopes to set the record straight about Lucas. "Frank wasn't nothing but a flunky, and one that Bumpy never did really trust," says Johnson. "Bumpy would let Frank drive him around, but you'd better believe that he was never in any important meetings or anything. He would say, you can trust a thief quicker than a liar, because a thief steals money because he needs money, but a liar lies for the hell of it!"

Kanye West- Mother Dr. Donda Dies
Donda West, the mother and onetime manager of rapper Kanye West, died Saturday in Los Angeles.BBC News quotes her publicist as saying she passed away "as the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure," but gave no more details. West's spokesman said the family "asks for privacy during this time of grief." (source CNN)

HipHopDX: How did your father’s legacy help you cement your own individuality?
Frank Lucas, Jr.: He helped in terms of way he operated. He was the type to be able to maneuver through the landmines of the Italian mafia world and to be able to survive and create his own situation. I applied those same principles in the world of entertainment. I see the whole playing field. The pitfalls are pretty much the same, except for when you’re moving in the world that he was in. You saw money everyday. Every guy who thinks he’s a rapper wants to be a gangster, every gangster you see wants to be a rapper and the athlete wants to be both. American Gangster Rap
The biggest buzz in New York City this weekend is almost certainly the release of "American Gangster," director Ridley Scott's film based on the life of Frank Lucas.
Frank Lucas, the son of the American Gangster is on this weeks cover of the Staten Island Advance AWE section. writer Ben Johnson went in deep with Lucas, to find out the connection Frank Lucas has with the American Gangster!
"We're trying to re-educate people as to what gangsterism really is, because a lot of people got it twisted," says Lucas. "Yes, historically, it has meant certain things and has been connected with violence, but it also means taking care of your own, being a good business man and being loyal to your dreams -- just like my father was."
"My father has two sides," says Lucas. "He has a demonic side, that contributed to ravaging generations with the distribution of heroin, and he has the charismatic side, that was the ladies' man, that was the good father, the international businessman, Howard Hughes-type.
