Rip The Runway: All models, agents, and mangement should read this...
MyModelTalk.com is dedicated to providing quality castings. We are also dedicated to protecting the interests of the talent we work with. Because of this responsibility we are sending out this communication to all our agency, management & talent affiliations in Atlanta and nationally. We feel that it is necessary to let the talent, management, and agencies in Atlanta know of unprofessional experiences with the casting director of Rip the Runway, Aminah Benjamin.
MyModelTalk.com prides itself as being a service that works for the best interests of the talent involved. However the casting director at the time, Aminah Benjamin, did not work in the best interests of talent provided to her during February of this year. MyModelTalk sent 83 strong models to the NYC casting in February this year. The managers, models, and agencies under our professional umbrella were horribly mistreated. BET is a reputable company but we caution talent from participating if they will be mismanaged in the future as they have been this year and years past.
Strong and well known fashion models were kept outside in the cold on the initial day of the casting. When callbacks were held some models were denied entry also management & talent agencies were never notified when their models were selected FOR THE PROJECT! Aminah requested all model’s direct contact information be provided because time was short for callbacks. We provided it after distinct promises that we would be notified of the models that were selected so WE could call the management and agencies ourselves. And although the casting director had the management and agency contact information they did not call them either. This is highly unprofessional for a casting on that tier level. It also means that Managers and Agents were not paid or could not enforce agreements with their talent. They also could not effectively work on the behalf of their models.
Our CEO and our trusted publicist both personally called Aminah and asked for the information during the casting, the production, and after the successful completion of the event.
Some agents whom had knowledge of previous Rip the Runway events refused to submit their talent for the project when MyModelTalk.com contacted them for submissions. In the interest of pursuing new business without bias to situations we were not party to we continued to assist with the casting. This apparently was a mistake and we apologize for it. MyModelTalk.com will not endorse this project in Atlanta and other major metro areas while it is being produced by negligent staff. We will also not be attending.
To those agents and managers that still do not know whom from their talent pool were casted for RTR 2008 you may TRY to reach Aminah Benjamin at 646.732.0767. Her email address is minahmakinmovez@yahoo.com. We stress that top tier agencies, models, and management should be aware of this when dealing with Rip The Runway.
