Realizing that those two options did not suit him he did a 360 and skated his way out of drugs, poverty, and crime to become one of the few professional African-American skateboarders. Currently signed to Stevie Williams skate team Dirty Ghetto Kids (DGK)and Blink 182’s Travis Barkers Famous Starts and Straps. Darren aka ‘D-Streets” has been highly influential when it comes to blending hip-hop fashion and skating.

According to the documents Wyclef unlawfully sampled Blahz’s 1996 Billboard Chart topping single “Danger” on a track for the first single off his December 4, 2007 album release “Carnival 2” (Sony BMG Records). The sample appears on the track “Welcome To The East,” featuring vocals from reggae notable Sizzla and Violin play from Minister Louis Faracon. The remix to the song features East New York, Brooklyn native, Def Jam rapper, Uncle Murda. Although Sizzla and Minister Faracon appeared on the album credits, not a mention of Blahz’s name or sample clearance acknowledgment can be found. To add insult to injury, under the credits for the album’s second single “Sweetest Girl” is the sample clearance acknowledgement of another 90s hit single “C.R.E.A.M.” by Wu-Tang Clan.
